We are now working towards medal tests. The date is booked for Sunday 29th March 2019. For those who are new to the academy or have not done a medal test let me explain what it is…..
An IDTA Street Dance Exam is where a professional examiner from the International Dance Teaching Association (a very highly established dance examination board) comes into the studio and examines the children.
The children perform a team dance all together that they have learnt in class and two solo dances for Bronze, three for silver and four for Gold and Gold Plus. Just to put dancers minds at ease the solos are examined in groups of four so dancers are not completely on their own.
If your child has any special needs or if any disabilities that need to be made known to the examiner please let me know before hand please note if you wish to you can apply for special circumstances but this will need to be backed up by medical certificates/proof.
If the children are successful they receive a Medal and certificate for each award team and solo, which they will receive at a medal ceremony in front of fellow dancers and parents and friends.
IDTA medal tests are a great way to check your progress, build confidence, it looks great in portfolios and on C.Vs and if you serious about street dance you can work your way up to a teacher’s qualification.
If you would like to do the medal tests this year please bring in payment in CASH ONLY for this in a clearly marked envelope with your name, amount and please state which test you would like to do and which level you are on i.e. the award you received last time. You may have just done Rosette 1. One Dance Green, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gold Bar 1, GB2, GB3, IDTA Star 1.
If you are unsure what level you are on please ask your teacher or Julie can clarify this for you. Please bring into class your examination fee in a clearly marked enveloped which we will provide for you next week, with your name and level and payment information. Please note its one payment for team and one for solo. So if your on Bronze and your doing team and solo it is a total of 32 pound. There is a deal available on Gold Bar 1 - 3 which is 40 for both Team and Solo

Dancers do not have to do both solo and team although most dancers do, and if your part of a competition team you are expected to attend the medal test examination day and ceremony to compete with your team even if your not paying to do the exam so its fair to the rest of the team that wish to complete team awards.
